White with 1, grad invite, blogger trouble

Image
I made this layout for the May challenge at White with 1 . Their challenge this month was to use white with orange and scallops. I painted my scalloped border, the journal stripes, and the border on my picture. I mixed two colors of paint to try to get a shade that would match the papers in my counterfeit kit. I found it difficult to make a layout with only one color and white. I am happy with the final result and I am going to be watching for the June challenge so that I can play again. This is one of Cassie's graduation invitations. I made twelve of them using the Hello Kitty Greetings cartride that I won on Crystals blog. Thank you again. I told you I would be using it soon :) I had the black and white cardstock in my counterfeit kit, but I had to add the card bases and orange cardstock. I think they are so cute with kitty throwing her mortarboard in the air. Thanks for looking :) Blogger problems: I have been unable to comment on peoples blogs for the last five or six days. I h

Counterfeit Kit May Blog Hop

Image
Hi. If you are here for the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Hop, welcome. If you stumbled onto my blog and would like to start at the beginning or you are looking for the complete list of blogs you can find it here . Our challenge was to get inspiration from our favorite scrapbook company and their blog. I have quite a few favorite companies, but for the challenge I chose Jillibean Soup . They have so many fun layouts on their blog and I found this layout by Julie Bonner and thought it was great. For my layout I switched the hearts for shamrocks. I had this adorable picture of my grandson from St. Paddy's Day and I was happy to find a cute layout idea. I used my Cricut to cut the shamrocks with the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge. I used a touch of adhesive on the top of each shamrock to hold it in place while I was sewing but none near the center because I didn't want the needle to be sticky. I followed the lines of the ledger paper to keep the sewing straight. The layout went

Twisted Sketches #102- Call Me Boss

Image
I made this Boardwalk Empire layout using this sketch from Twisted Sketches . The twist was play and my little journal tag says How the big boys play! Atlantic City, New Jersey. The little frame around my circle picture reminded me of bullet holes so I thought it would go well with the theme. This close up shows my journal tag, I thought Health Check was a funny choice for the corruption, mafia, etc. that is involved in Boardwalk Empire. The oh snap is an old Love, Elsie epoxy. It fit well into the Thickers gear. These are the same papers I used earlier in the month on my Top Model layout. I love that I used the scraps and the layouts don't look anything alike. Thanks for looking :)

My Sassafras Mystery Box

Image
I decided to buy one of the Sassafras mystery boxes last week when I saw that they were available. It was listed as $215 value for $49 including shipping. I was slightly hesitant because I had ordered a mystery box from another company and the value wasn't what I expected. I had no need to worry. My Sassafras box came and I was happy from the minute I picked up the box. It was HEAVY! When I opened it I was even happier. There were so many great things in my box. There were eight alphabets, four glitter and four regular. Four packs of felties and three packs of vintage blooms. There were two packs of entwined blooms and nine packs of in a stitch blossoms. There were three 6x6 wee bundles and ten packs of paper whimsies. Five nerdy bird papers, journal tags, flag borders, and cardstock stickers. Five Monstrosity papers, alphabet, Chipboard, and paper whimsies. Six indie girl papers, journal tags, flag banners, and cardstock stickers. Six cherry delicious papers, flag banners,

Sketch 119 and Counterfeit Kit

Image
I used this sketch from The Scrappiest to make this layout about the mayor of WDW. The pinks in my Mother's Day kit matched my picture well. I am pretty happy with how it turned out. I have been getting a lot of my old Disney layouts done since I started making counterfeit kits. This picture is from 2007. I have a few more sets of paper and pictures put aside to make more layouts, I have just been too busy. Tonight is the last dance recital night for Cassie, so after today I should have some time to play in my scrapbook room. Thanks for looking :)

Mini Challenge 1- Counterfeit Kit

Image
I used the sketch to make this card for my MIL for Mother's Day. I used scraps from my kit to make the card. I added the brown flower from my stash and the Ms are actually Ws from the Thickers in my kit. I don't want to be stuck without an M later and MIL won't know the difference. Thanks for looking :)

Counterfeit layout #3

Image
A special thank you to Crystal for the Hello Kitty Cricut cartridge that I won on her blog on NSD. I love it and I intend to use it soon for cards and scrapbook pages. Every year my family gets together around Halloween for a Harvest Party. We have a hay ride, pinata, scavenger hunt, fire with marshmallows, and... a donut eating contest. Donuts are tied to a string and then are hanged from a clothesline at different levels. Without hands you have to eat your donut, which is easier said than done since if you don't bite at the right place it will fall on the ground :) I couldn't tell you who ate their whole donut, but I can assure you it is fun. I used my counterfeit main kit for the papers, thickers and journal block. I used a MS punch to cut the bat border. The orange swirl paper has been in my stash forever. I didn't use any embellishments because I couldn't find anything that looked good and I think it looks good without any.

Sassy Lil Sketches/ Counterfeit Kit

Image
I made this layout using this sketch from Sassy Lil' Sketches . I like this sketch because it has three photos on one page and doesn't look crowded. I followed the sketch pretty closely because it worked well with my pictures. I used my May counterfeit kit. I would have never scrapped these pictures on maroon paper if I hadn't made this kit. It works well with the yellow in my pictures because of the BG paper. I originally made butterflies and flourishes to use on the layout and switched them out for the flowers which I had in my stash. They weren't in my original kit but I liked the way they looked. So I decided to make cards with the butterflies and flourishes so they wouldn't go to waste. Thanks for looking :)

Crafting for Caitlyn Bingo Card 1 / Counterfeit Kit

Image
At Crafting for Caitlyn Crystal is having a special Bingo for NSD :) Since I love challenges and games this was a great excuse to start using my Counterfeit Kit. I picked Bingo Card #1 for my layout. I used more than 3 photos, dimension, and something from before 2008. My photos are of Benjamin when he was two months old. He was sent from the doctors office for apnea monitoring. He was supposed to be there for a couple of hours and they extended it to a 24 hour test. Then we had a big snow storm and he had to stay another day. The dimension comes from a chipboard frame, a flocked title, and the actual monitor leads that he had in the hospital. I knew that I would do a scrapbook page about his hospital visit so we kept the leads when the doctor removed them. The dotted paper is from the Making Memories Anthology collection 2007. I have a lot of packs of this paper because it was on clearance at Michaels for about 37 cents. Thank you for looking and I hope I win that Cricut Cartridge :)

May Counterfeit Kits :)

Image
This month at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog they are counterfeiting Work in Progress Kits. This is their main kit. It is full of bright fun colors and patterned papers. When I made my kit I tried to stick to the bright and fun theme. I added a lot of cardstock and some extra papers. Last month I only had two sheets of paper left so I wanted to be sure to have plenty this month. I also added thickers since I have so many. I added a ton of embellishments. I couldn't help it... everywhere I looked there was something that would be perfect for the kit, so I added it. It will feel good to use some of these things that I have had for years. Then I decided to counterfeit their Mother add on kit. I liked the green and pink and I thought it would be pretty with some of my pictures of Alexx and Cassie when they were younger. This is their kit. For my kit I used pink and aqua. I started with the paisley and the stripe and went from there. I have some cream, white and brown for the a

Counterfeit Kit layouts 8 & 9

I made two more layouts with my counterfeit kit. I am finally making a dent in the pile of Disney pictures. The first layout is just a funny picture of my mom on her scooter that she rents when we are in Disney. We had her pull up to the wagon of junk and it looked like she was pulling the wagon. I used a paint dauber to paint the back of the Maya Road doily so that it would show up against my black paper. I had to get a little creative with my title because I was using up an old pack of thickers. The second layout is also Disneyworld, just a few pictures near Tom Sawyer Island. I was a little worried about the red/green combo looking too much like Christmas, but I think it is good. A simple page, but I am happy with the result and it is another page done. Thank you for looking.
