CKC-Challenge #3-Confetti

Image
Challenge #3 at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog is to use confetti on your project. The only confetti in my stash is shamrocks, so I decided to use sequins instead. For some reason I have a lot of sequins.  I used pictures from Christmas Eve. Ben and Cassie had put out a plate of cookies for Santa and Ben took a bite of one. I was sure Santa wouldn't mind because he knows how good Aunt Becki's cookies are. I used sequins (confetti) to border my main photo. I also used a few sequins to accent the felt border sticker. I have had this border in my stash for a few years now so I am happy that It is about half gone now. I rarely scrap Christmas layouts so I am happy to be getting a few done this month. Thanks for looking and I hope you join us for some of our challenges this month.

Baby Mini- BG Olivia

Image
I made this mini album for a friend. I used mostly BG Olivia for the pages. These folded paper albums go together really quickly and hold a ton of pictures. Each page has a tag on the front, back and top. Each tag can have a picture on the front and back so that is a lot of photos. I made six pages. It would have probably laid flat if I had used only five, but I couldn't decide which print to skip so I used them all. Haha.  The album is able to stand so you can leave it on a table. I tried not to make it too bulky because I wanted mom to be able to put it in her purse. I saw a great tutorial on youtube for this album a few months ago. I searched for the same video and can't find it now. There are a lot of tutorials for a similar album if you look.

Glitter Challenge-Counterfeit Kit

Image
Our next Challenge this month at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog was to use glitter in a different way. I have a lot of glitter, but it mostly sits unused so this was a challenge for me. When we were at Sesame Place we stopped at the North Pole to see Santa. I cut a flower from a piece of BG paper that was in my January kit. I used crystal accents (glossy accents, crystal effects, etc.) to cover the red parts of the flower and then sprinkled glitter over the crystal accents. After the flower was dry I added more crystal accents over the glitter. I made sure not to get any on the flower outline. I love the way the flower turned out. It looks a little puffy and super shiny. The best part is that there is no scratchy glitter and no little pieces falling off. I also glittered the snowflake on the stick pin. I used a Zig fine line glue pen to trace the snowflake and added green micro glitter. I let that dry and added a layer of crystal accents over the top. I have had that embelli...

Counterfeit Kit Challenge #1

Image
The first challenge this month at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog is to make a layout about your goals or resolutions for 2012. I kept my layout simple. I used the year, a few printed papers, some alpha stickers, and a few pearls. I decided that instead of a regular resolution I would go with 20 things, some general and some specific. My sub title is a play on the year. 2012- Twenty goals-Twelve months. If you make a goals/resolutions layout I would love to see it. Please add it to the Mr. Linky here . What are your goals for this year.

Moving On

Today is a happy/sad day for our family. Our older daughter moved to VA. We knew she was leaving, she has been planning to go for the last two months, but I still wasn't ready. She is not even to her new home yet and I miss her. I think it is because this isn't just a regular weekend away. This could be forever. The real deal. And I really hope for her that it is. The good news is that I am not going to be missing her for long. Tomorrow I will be going to VA to bring her a van load of stuff. She has two dogs so there wasn't enough room in the truck to bring everything. I am excited that I will get a chance to see her new house and make sure she is settled. It seems so funny to me that I am worried about her living away from us. She is almost 21, plenty old enough to live away from Mommy and Daddy. When I was her age I had been married for over three years and had two children. Why am I so worried.?. She can handle this.

January Counterfeit Kit

Welcome to this stop on the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog hop. You should have arrived from Jemma's blog . This month at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog we are counterfeiting kits from Cocoa Daisy . As soon as I saw their  Merry & Bright kit I knew that I would be making one of my own. Here is my kit. The Cocoa Daisy kit included 21 patterned papers. I can't tell you how much I love that. I noticed some pink and blue in their kit so I added some pink and blue papers to break up the red/white/green a little. I put in some Thickers and tiny alphas, a lot of cards and tags, and about a billion embellishments. I have a HUGE Christmas stash so it was a lot of fun to "shop" for this kit. I have a lot of event photos from this Christmas season. We had a trip to NYC, A Very Furry Christmas at Sesame Place, a band concert, and a trip to a light display. All of that is in addition to our regular holiday activities, so I have plenty of pictures. All I need now is time....

Project Life- Title Page

Image
I am excited to do Project Life this year. Here is my title page. I added a few things to the cards. There is a C for our last name, five people to represent our five, a chipboard year, some ribbon and ribbon flower trim, and the word family. I am happy with the way it turned out. We don't have the most exciting life, but it will be fun to look back and see how our life was in 2012. This year we have a daughter moving to another state, which will change some things around the house. Our grandson is in dance so we will have a recital. Then there are the basic everyday things that make up our lives. I am hoping that I will be able to keep up with my album this year. Last year I managed to take pictures through March, but I only completed one week of my album. I am going to order a photo printer so I can print pictures at home. My plan is to work on my album every week which will be much easier if I don't have to order my photos out. I hope everyone is having a good New Year.
