February Counterfeit Kit

Image
This month I am making a kit. The Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog is using this kit as it's inspiration. The browns and greens are a little too specific for me, so I decided to start with some butterfly papers since butterflies are very visible in this line. These bright colored butterfly papers are more my style, but I added some kraft, brown, and green to go with the original kit's feel. But then I added lots of fun prints and colors to make the kit more my style. I added a lot because I have been scrapbooking a lot lately. And the Bash Your Scrapbook Stash fb group is having a month long event, so I will probably be doing more than normal. Lots of embellishments. Border strips, stickers, lots of old things that have been sitting around. I added some words, cork, burlap, chipboard, metal, frames, etc. And then I decided to add a burlap paper, a gold print vellum, and a white print vellum. I didn't add any alphabets, so I will have to choose the

This month I made 22 layouts. It's a great start! The first nine were made with my November Hip Kit.  The next four are from my December Hip Kit.  Seaside Cuties was my Scrap the girls entry.  This one was the HKC weekly sketch challenge. This one is my entry for Scrap the Boys.  This one was for White...with 1, the color was buttercream.  The last four were for the 52 week challenge at the Scraptacular Cropping Club. Week 1- Use up alphabets Week 2- wood veneer  Week 3-ribbons and buttons  Week 4-flowers  All of my layouts are posted on fb in the Bash Your Scrapbook Stash group. We have a lot of challenges and inspiration there so come join us if you want to play along. Thanks for looking.

WHITE with 1 January Challenge

Image
The challenge this month at White with 1 was buttercream. There was also a mood board. I don't have a lot of buttercream supplies. The alphabet I found was vanilla which looked pretty close to me, so I based my colors on that. Here is my layout. I had these cute pictures from my grandson's birthday that had very little color, so they went really well with the buttercream, as did the cake.  I added a doily inspired by the fluffy flower and used a stencil for the dots in the background that brought in the circles from the cookies. For the buttercream color I mixed yellow and white paint with gold texture paste.  My neutral is navy and just now I realize part of my balloon came off and I need to fix that. The banners were made with a punch and I just layered them up for a little bit of extra dimension.  Thanks for looking.

Scrap the Boys-January 2019

Image
I decided to join in on the Scrap the Boys challenge this month. I haven't played with them before, but with two grandsons I have plenty of boy pictures. This month they are having a Summer challenge and I love bright Summer pictures. I had a cute picture of Ben on his Slip and Slide that really shows the fun of Summer so I came up with this layout.  I was happy to use some old papers and embellishments because I am trying to mix old and new. Honestly there isn't anything new in this layout, but it's ok. Using up is using up. I added the water splashes because the background looked a little plain. I struggle with solid backgrounds which is why I normally use patterned papers. I used this flower stencil because the petals looked like water drops to me. The gel medium dries glossy and clear so it really looks like water on the page. Thanks for looking!

January Scrap the Girls

Image
I saw this month's challenge at  Scrap the Girls and loved it. I haven't played along with them before, but the third picture on the top row reminded me of an Easter picture of my girls back when they were little and let me dress them up. I had my December Hip Kit sitting unused and even though it's a Christmas kit it had a great mix of red patterns and a navy blue that worked well with my sailor theme. I am happy with the layout and I was pretty excited to use a picture from almost 25 years ago. Thanks for looking.
