Counterfeit layouts

Image
I love the counterfeit kit I put together this month. I had big hopes of getting a lot of layouts done with my great summer kit. As it turns out I have just been too busy to have much scrapping time. I have done five layouts this month. I have about six more layouts set up to make and I hope I can get them all done before the new kit reveal on the fifth. Here are three layouts that I made with my June kit and didn't post yet. The first layout is from Disney. We go every year with my daughters dance school. This is the first year in the last six years that we aren't going with them. We are going on our own later in the year. I am using the time before we go to get some of the previous years layouts done. This was the group picture from our dinner at the Hoop-Dee-Doo-Revue. The second layout is of my niece Katie. She is the only person on our side of the family with freckles and I have always wanted to take her to one of the freckle contests (you win by having the most freckles

Sassy Lil' Sketches June 7th

Image
This is the June 7th sketch from the Sassy Lil' Sketches blog. A great sketch for using three photos on a single page layout. I didn't use three but I like that it was an option :) I made this layout to go with the layout in my previous post. This was right after Ben came out of the OR after the c-section and he got to meet his dad. I used Sassafras paper whimsies as a border down the side and I didn't like the way they looked separately so I searched for something to connect them. I wanted to use staples, but the space between cards was just a hair too wide so I went with the circle grommets and I like the way it looks more "finished". Kind of like it is one big embellishment instead of a lot of pieces. When I put this elephant paper in my counterfeit kit, I imagined it with pictures of one of my girls when they were a baby. It was funny when I was looking through the pictures of babies, these were the ones that seemed to work. I still am not sure about all of

Bird is the Word-Amazing

I used this sketch from the Bird is the Word challenge blog to make my layout. Here is the layout I made. It is one of the first pictures of my daughter Cassie and her baby Ben. This was right after her c-section when the nurse brought him over to meet her. It was the first minute that I felt relief knowing that they were both ok after the emergency surgery. Here is a close up of my embellishment cluster. It is not something I usually do, but I like it. If you don't know about the counterfeit kit challenge, take a look at their blog and be inspired http://www.counterfeitkitchallenge.blogspot.com . It is a blog where you are challenged to counterfeit on of the current kit clubs with your own supplies. It is a great way to feel like you have new things and use your stash without spending any money. It works, try it :)

June Counterfeit Kit

Image
I was so excited to see the inspiration kit for June at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog. Burlap and Butterflies put together the great kit in this picture. I really liked all of the pink, orange, blue and green in the original kit so I tried to stick with that. As my main paper and color reference I chose an old sheet of BG that I have had for years. I love the elephants and the colors were just right. I ended up with fifteen patterned papers. My embellishments... What can I say, I went overboard. I couldn't help it. I have all of these great Sassafras goodies from my mystery box so I needed to add some to my kit. I have a few things in here from last month, and a few things that I have had for a long time. I have some buttons, ribbon, and bling mixed in with some tab stickers, chipboard, and journal spots. I made the summer add on and I managed to only use four papers! And only a few little embellishments. See, I have a little self control... But then it ended. I tried to pic

Sassy Lil' Sketches made with counterfeit kit

This is the May 28th sketch from Sassy Lil' Sketches . I like this sketch because it has two pictures. I used the sketch to make a layout about Ben meeting Pinocchio. Cassie loves to see the characters at Disney and she is making sure that Ben loves them too. Like mommy like baby :) I decided not to use any embellishments on my layout other than the arrow pointing at the title. I used the arrow because it duplicates the arrows on my patterned paper. I didn't add any other embellishments because between all of the patterned papers and the banner it was busy enough. This was my first time making a banner and I actually like it. The banner says NOW APPEARING. All of my papers and thickers came from my counterfeit kit. I added the small rub-ons from my stash. I am so happy that I found the counterfeit kit because I am USING my stash.
