Glitter Challenge-Counterfeit Kit

Our next Challenge this month at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog was to use glitter in a different way. I have a lot of glitter, but it mostly sits unused so this was a challenge for me.

When we were at Sesame Place we stopped at the North Pole to see Santa.
I cut a flower from a piece of BG paper that was in my January kit. I used crystal accents (glossy accents, crystal effects, etc.) to cover the red parts of the flower and then sprinkled glitter over the crystal accents. After the flower was dry I added more crystal accents over the glitter. I made sure not to get any on the flower outline. I love the way the flower turned out. It looks a little puffy and super shiny. The best part is that there is no scratchy glitter and no little pieces falling off.

I also glittered the snowflake on the stick pin. I used a Zig fine line glue pen to trace the snowflake and added green micro glitter. I let that dry and added a layer of crystal accents over the top. I have had that embellishment in my stash for a lot of years. I like the way it looks with just the little bit of color.
The tissue tape is from Tim Holtz, the stick pin is Around the Block, the glitter title is from K&Co, the snowflake and candy stripe paper are October Afternoon, and the flower paper and background paper are BG.

If you would like to play along with us you can link your glitter layouts to the link above. Thanks for looking.

I hadn't realised the technique you had done to do your glitter flower but now I love it EVEN more! It's gorgeous and the idea of covering the glitter with more glossy accents to prevent fall off is super! Will have to try tht. Your flower and of course the whole layout is gorgeous.

That is fabulous - that poinsettia literally sparkles. I like to gloss over my glitter with a clear coat too - I hate when it keep falling off.
